BMG LABTECH to Launch its New Absorbance Microplate Reader, the SPECTROstar Nano at Elrig Drug Discovery 2010
25 Aug 2010: Visit BMG Labtech to learn more about the new absorbance microplate reader SPECTROstar Nano. Using a spectrometer, it captures a full UV-Visible spectrum (220 nm to 1000 nm) in less than 1 sec/well and measures sample volumes down to 2 µL. The SPECTROstar Nano also allows for single push button operation for basic commands, as well as specific assay protocol set up.

New Probes for Directly Detecting Nucleotide-Protein Interactions
24 Aug 2010: Mant-ATP and Mant-GTP from AnaSpec are the fluorescent analogs of ATP and GTP where either the ribose 2’-hydroxy or the 3’-hydroxy group is esterified by the fluorescent methylisatoic acid. The highly environmentally sensitive fluorescence of Mant makes Mant-ATP and Mant-GTP useful probes for directly detecting nucleotide-protein interactions at Ex/Em=355/448 nm.

Easy Gene Delivery into Hard to Transfect Cells
19 Aug 2010: A new range of expression ready lentiviral particles from AMSBIO allow easy gene delivery into hard to transfect cells including primary cells, non-dividing cells and cells in suspension. The particles are supplied ready-to-use eliminating the need for any lipids or transfection reagents.

New Antimicrobial GO® Peptides from AnaSpec
19 Aug 2010: Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are peptides that form part of the host’s important innate immunity mechanism against pathogenic microorganisms such as Gram positive and negative bacteria, fungi and viruses. AMPs are short peptides (<60 amino acids), exhibit a broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity at physiological conditions and are predominantly cationic.
AnaSpec Inc.
New Automated Phosphorylation for Cancer and Alzheimer's Research
17 Aug 2010: The integration of the first commercially available phosphorylation tool into Sage-N Research's drug discovery platform measures the likelihood of correct phosphorylation site localization which is important for the study of many diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's.

ACD/Labs to Present In silico ADMET Software, Free NMR Software and Building SORD at ACS 2010
16 Aug 2010: ACD/Labs will highlight a recent addition to its line of ADMET prediction software aimed at helping researchers detect enzyme inhibition in the early stages of the discovery process. ACD/Labs CYP450 Regioselectivity module is capable of predicting sites of metabolic activity for almost any compound. Students and professors can also receive a free copy of ACD/NMR Processor Academic Edition.

Thiol Coupling: An Alternative Protein Immobilization Strategy on the Corning® Epic® System
10 Aug 2010: This application demonstrates that the Corning® Epic® System enables label-free direct biochemical assay for small molecules and protein-protein binding to an immobilized target. This method offers an alternative approach to investigate difficult protein targets, including those with low pI values, for label-free biochemical binding assays.
